Green Wrythe Primary School
Carshalton, Surrey
PierceHill is acting as quantity surveyor on a £1.8m refurbishment and new build project at Green Wrythe Primary School in Carshalton, Surrey. The school is expanding to include a new build Special Educational Needs building as well as new car parking facilities and refurbishments to the existing school buildings. The project is split into three phases and provides the challenge of working in a ‘live’ environment around an occupied school. The project is one of several schools projects that PierceHill is working on with The HOCA Practice for The London Borough of Sutton.

Demelza Hospice Care for Children
New Children’s Hospice, Eltham, London SE9
PierceHill is the appointed Quantity Surveyor (QS) for a new six-bedded children's hospice under construction in Eltham in the London Borough of Greenwich for Demelza, an organisation providing hospice care for children with life-limiting illnesses across Kent, East Sussex and South London. The structure of the new hospice is nearing completion with internal installations, fitting out, recruitment of care staff and the grant of registration by the Healthcare Commission all expected to be completed by the end of 2008.

St John’s School
Billericay, Essex
Working in close association with Croydon-based architects Geraghty Taylor, Pierce Hill is performing quantity surveying and construction cost management services for a 5,000 m2 new build school that will provide a flexible and stimulating physical environment for its pupils. The first phase will include specialist classrooms, a new sports hall, changing facilities and a drama studio. Planning permission for the £8m project has been granted. The first phase of construction is scheduled to start in July 2008.

Cumnor House School
Design Technology Building, Cumnor House School, East Sussex
When PierceHill was invited to get involved in this project in an area of outstanding natural beauty, it became apparent that the allocated budget was going to be challenging to achieve. We undertook cost benefit studies of different forms of construction at a very early stage to establish the most economic approach to this project. The project, designed by Marcus Beale Architects, was built in a single phase for less than our original forecast estimate.

Brent Adult & Community Education Service
The Carlton Centre, Kilburn, London NW6
PierceHill was engaged as cost consultant for this partial refurbishment and extension to an existing adult education centre. The project incorporated Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) works and was undertaken with the Client in occupation for the majority of the contract. Designed by Chassay Architects, the project features a coned shaped lift core, which was largely clad in perspex.

PierceHill was appointed as quantity surveyor for this Surestart-funded project that involved an extension to and refurbishment of the existing building. Architects HGP designed the building to provide nursery facilities and offices for Westminster Children’s Society.

Southwark Primary Care Trust
Bird in the Bush, Old Kent Road, London SE15
PierceHill was appointed as project manager and quantity surveyor for the implementation of remedial works for a building that comprised a children’s nursery at ground floor level and three flats above. The remedial works involved the demolition of a significant number of external and internal walls and the reinstatement of services. The works were undertaken on a prime cost basis and our role included a significant amount of liaison with legal representatives and expert witnesses representing the Client.
